University honors its first class of graduates of the new Rutgers.
Marking the first graduating class of the newly constituted Rutgers, which now includes schools dedicated to medicine and the health sciences, Commencement 2014 featured an appearance by former governor Thomas H. Kean, who gave the commencement speech for Rutgers University–New Brunswick and Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences at High Point Solutions Stadium on May 18. Eric LeGrand gave the Class of 2014 address as well as received his bachelor of arts degree.
Rutgers University–Newark held its commencement on May 21 at the Prudential Center in Newark, where Don Katz, the CEO of Audible, Inc., the audiobooks seller, gave the address.
Rutgers University–Camden honored its graduates with its commencement in the Susquehanna Bank Center at which Jeffrey Brenner RWJMS’95—a physician at Cooper University Health Care and a 2013 recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship who also received an honorary doctor of science degree from Rutgers—addressed the 2014 graduating class as its keynote speaker.
The individual schools also held convocations surrounding the commencements.
