The first March for Science, the burgeoning global movement to defend the importance of science, attracted millions to cities worldwide on April 22. The flagship march in Washington, D.C., drew tens of thousands to the Mall to hear speakers such as Bill Nye the Science Guy. Jessica Ware GSNB’08, an entomologist and evolutionary biologist at Rutgers University–Newark, spoke, too. Two days before the event, USA Today published an editorial by Rutgers president Robert Barchi, who wrote: “… I urge our leaders to ensure the unfettered sharing of research findings and the strong investment in science that have made America a world leader.”
