EcoWalls LLC, the creation of alumni Michael Coraggio and Ryan Burrows, installs lush gardens on vertical surfaces—or living walls— for residential and commercial clients. “We are architects of vertical landscapes, using nature as our inspiration,” says Coraggio CC’06,  who cofounded the company in 2008 with Burrows GSNB’13. “Natural vertical gardens provide valuable lessons, teaching us about plant  adaptations, ecology, and sustainability.”

EcoWalls—based in Bordentown, New Jersey, at the Rutgers EcoComplex, a green-business incubator that has fostered the company’s growth—completed a commission in the lobby of the newly opened New Jersey Institute for Food, Nutrition, and Health at Rutgers University–New Brunswick. Ballinger Architects of Philadelphia designed the building.
