Rutgers and RWJBarnabas Health partner to create the state's premier academic health care system.
Rutgers University and RWJBarnabas Health have entered a partnership that will create New Jersey’s premier academic health care system. It will provide high-quality patient care, leading research, and world-class health and medical education that will transform health care in the state. The venture will improve the delivery and accessibility of evidence-based health care; strengthen the recruitment of prominent academic, research, and clinical practitioners; and advance health science innovation and education.
The collaboration encompasses RWJBarnabas Health, which is New Jersey’s largest health care system; Rutgers; and Rutgers Health Group, a faculty practice of approximately 1,000 physicians and other health care professionals. The alliance—a multispecialty group comprising more than 2,500 practitioners—makes it one of the largest medical groups in the nation. Patients in New Jersey, benefiting from better access to providers in numerous disciplines, will eventually have access to new centers providing medical research and clinical innovation, and to clinicians who are leading scholars and faculty in their fields.
