Despite the prevalence of depression in the American population, less than 5 percent of adults are evaluated for it by primary caregivers, leading to the condition going unrecognized about half the time in a primary care setting. Ayse Akincigil GSNB’98, ‘04, an associate professor at the School of Social Work, and doctoral student Elizabeth Matthews coauthored their findings in an article appearing in Psychiatric Services in Advance.
