Within the span of a week in April, Rutgers University–New Brunswick and its host city each staged an event to demonstrate all that the university and the city have to offer. First up, on April 19, was New Brunswick Ciclovia, when the city opened three miles of streets to students, residents, and families, who enjoyed fresh air and exercise as they walked, rode, or jogged and gained a deeper appreciation of the vitality and livability of New Brunswick. The success of the day stemmed from the teamwork of the City of New Brunswick, New Brunswick Tomorrow, Johnson & Johnson, and Rutgers. Ciclovias are part of a worldwide movement that started in Bogotá, Colombia, to promote a healthy lifestyle for city residents. Ciclovia will take place again on June 14 and October 4, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (For more information, visit newbrunswickciclovia.com.)

Rutgers–New Brunswick hosted Rutgers Day on April 25, a daylong celebration of the myriad teaching, research, and outreach enterprises at the university, expressed through lectures, demonstrations, and performances. Once again, a throng of visitors—91,000—canvassed the campuses of Cook/Douglass, Busch, and College Avenue, talking to members of the Rutgers faculty, staff, and student body while enjoying an ample choice of food and entertainment. Rutgers Day, celebrating its seventh year, coincided with Alumni Weekend, which allowed alumni to catch up with people from their past while witnessing the present and future of their alma mater. The ever-popular Scarlet-White spring football scrimmage was held in High Point Solutions Stadium under the lights on April 24.
