Mickey Mouse

Three Rutgers University–Camden students have traded their Scarlet Raptor wings for Mickey Mouse ears for the fall semester. Rachel Clifton, John Han, and Brittany Striewski are part of the Disney College Program, a paid internship for qualified students nationwide to take personal and career development courses. “I’ve always loved the magic of Walt Disney,” says Striewski, a junior management major at the School of Business–Camden. “Now, I’m able to actually take part in making the magic happen.”

The experiential-learning program includes courses in corporate communications, hospitality management, human resource management, and organizational leadership. The students are holding down full-time jobs that coincide with their majors while living near the Walt Disney World Resort. It’s a first-hand look at what it takes to operate a successful global company. “I can’t think of a better company to work for to get my feet wet,” says Han, a senior marketing major with intentions of working in the entertainment industry.

Clifton, a junior management major, has a retail job as part of the program, learning all about one of the largest companies in the world. “Disney is a huge advocate for customer service,” she says. “This is something I want to perfect for my major and for  my career.”
