Rutgers University–Newark and Rutgers University–Camden each has made an offer that few qualifiers will want to refuse: helping families with incomes of $60,000 or less cut college costs through a grant covering tuition and the general campus fee. Rutgers–Newark’s “Talent & Opportunity Pathways” (RU-N to the TOP) and Rutgers–Camden’s “Bridging the Gap” underscore the university’s commitment to providing access to a Rutgers degree at an affordable price.

Rutgers–Newark is inviting Newark high school students as well as those who have earned a degree from a New Jersey community college to take advantage of the offer. “With RU-N to the TOP, we are firmly planting a stake in the ground for college affordability for Newarkers and New Jerseyans,” says Nancy Cantor, chancellor of Rutgers University–Newark.

Rutgers–Camden, which is extending its offer to qualifying high school students from New Jersey, is also offering families making $60,001 to $100,000 a grant covering 50 percent of their tuition and the general campus fee. “Our program offers a pathway to achieve a Rutgers degree, regardless of socioeconomic status,” says Phoebe Haddon, chancellor of Rutgers University–Camden.

Students graduating from high school in 2016 who are U.S. citizens (or legal permanent U.S. residents) and seeking to enroll at Rutgers in the fall can apply for the programs by completing the 2016–17 Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
