Alumnus Charles Evered, the son of a World War II veteran and the father of a U.S. Naval Sea Cadet, is establishing an artist residency near Joshua Tree National Park, part of the Hi-Desert Cultural Center in Southern California. The Charles J. Evered House, named for his father, will be for military veterans and those who have served in conflict zones. Evered NCAS’97, a former U.S. Navy Reservist who also studied playwriting at Yale, is a writer and director who benefited from an artist residency, giving him the idea for founding the CJE House, which will provide a range of facilities for artists of all kinds.
